In our organization, each team member carries experiences of feeling marginalized, isolated, or misunderstood. Along with care and concern for our students, these stories are at the heart of our organization.

It is significant for both parties when professionals share personal narratives with young, emerging leaders. These kinships carry enormous meaning to diverse students whose identities have yet to crystallize. Our project affords a unique opportunity, without institutional barriers, to mentor students who have never connected with leaders of color.

Biographies

Jason Booker

A Silicon Valley native with over a decade of high school counseling experience, Jason was the lead counselor and college specialist at a public Chicagoland high school. Leading 10 other counselors and overseeing 3,600 students, Jason inspired conversations around post high school options through classroom presentations, field trips, and schoolwide events. Jason has assisted thousands of students of all ability levels with college planning. His former students include a U.S. Presidential Scholar and dozens of Ivy League attendees. His scarce combination of education, engineering, and statistics experience is highly unique and yields out-of-the-box ideas. A UCLA and Vanderbilt graduate with two advanced degrees, Jason has solidified his advising pillars using strategies from extensive data collection and years of robust professional development. He is both prepared and motivated to transform the educational landscape.
